Topics will include the livelihoods that helped Port develop into the town you know today, including shell fishing, sand mining, aviation, the yacht clubs, the tidal mills, the restaurants, the many hotels and much more.

Stannards Brook Park Cleanup
Port Washington Parks Conservancy’s Second Saturday in Stannards Brook is back for a second year. Meet for one hour from 10 am – 11 am on the second Saturday each month from May to October. Each month they tackle a new area or new planting bed to weed, collect litter, plant native shrubs, etc.
An experienced naturalist and knowledgeable guide will lead the group. The PWPC will provide gloves and bags and limited tools. Bring water and additional tools. Remember to dress for the mess, think long pants, closed shoes, hat and sunscreen. Groups meet at the entrance at middle of Charles Street by the great lawn. Dr. Grasso is an adjunct assistant professor of history and political science, specializing as an Americanist in the American Revolution, among other areas. She teaches at area Long Island colleges and is a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Society for Historians of the Early American Republic and the American Revolution Round Table in New York City. This year, the Hempstead House of Horrors expands to three floors of the massive 50,000-square-foot mansion, including the subterranean dungeon. You’ll see horrific, supernatural, spine-chilling scenes. Terrifying creatures are lurking everywhere. No one is safe – pray you don’t get lost or get captured in the darkness. Children under 12 are not permitted. Not recommended for children under 14.

Pie with out Fear, 10 am (Arrive by 9:45 am) Learn how to assemble and bake the most delicious apple pie you've ever tasted! Classes will be held in the 18th century kitchen of the Sands-Willets House - home of the Cow Neck Peninsula Historical Society. Participants will learn how to roll out a delicious, light and flaky crust, slice apples perfectly, blend with Lucy's mouth watering ingredients, and bake to perfection, all the while learning about days gone by. You will take your baked pie home to enjoy still warm or freeze til the holidays! Classes include all tools and ingredients necessary for your pie. Students are asked to bring along their own oven-safe 9" pie dish (or use one of our aluminum ones) and an apron. Bakers must be age 18 or older. Men are welcome! Register Early! Space is very limited. Class runs approx. 2 hrs. $30 per person: Includes your own pie, hot out of the oven. Current CNPHS members get a $5 cashback discount at the class!

Pie with out Fear, 1 pm (Arrive by 12:45 am) Learn how to assemble and bake the most delicious apple pie you've ever tasted! Classes will be held in the 18th century kitchen of the Sands-Willets House - home of the Cow Neck Peninsula Historical Society. Participants will learn how to roll out a delicious, light and flaky crust, slice apples perfectly, blend with Lucy's mouth watering ingredients, and bake to perfection, all the while learning about days gone by. You will take your baked pie home to enjoy still warm or freeze til the holidays! Classes include all tools and ingredients necessary for your pie. Students are asked to bring along their own oven-safe 9" pie dish (or use one of our aluminum ones) and an apron. Bakers must be age 18 or older. Men are welcome! Register Early! Space is very limited. Class runs approx. 2 hrs. $30 per person: Includes your own pie, hot out of the oven. Current CNPHS members get a $5 cashback discount at the class!

Family Halloween Party, A Halloween Party for young children! 1:00 pm - 4:00 pm
The Phil Dejana Learning Center will be filled with furry woodland stuffed animals celebrating Halloween in a charming display complete with delightful fairy cottages and sparkle lights. An authentic gypsy caravan will be on site with a scarecrow horse and driver! Children can also explore the maze in the Outdoor Classroom, and Castle Gould’s Great Hall will feature a multitude of crafts and projects. Admission: Members: $10 per car, Non-Members: $20 per car.
